Pakistan China Joint Military Exercise Opens in Xinjiang
Pakistan China Joint Military Exercise, named Karakoram 2026, opened at a training base in Korla city, Xinjiang, with counter-terrorism drills and drones on the programme.
Pakistan and China began the joint army training exercise Karakoram 2026 in Xinjiang on Wednesday.
The opening ceremony was held at a training base in Korla city, according to China's official military media account.
The drills cover high-altitude counter-terrorism, drone operation, long-range sniping and joint command exercises.
Colonel Chen Xi, press secretary of China's defence ministry, said the drill would deepen cooperation against terrorism.
One wire report calls it the first-ever joint army exercise between the two militaries; the reporting reviewed does not confirm this.
