Pakistan dismisses Taliban claims on Angoor Adda border clash
The information ministry said Afghan Taliban forces opened unprovoked fire near Angoor Adda, killing one civilian, and that Pakistani troops destroyed seven posts in response.
Pakistan’s information ministry dismissed Afghan Taliban claims about the Angoor Adda incident as fabricated.
It said Afghan forces began unprovoked firing and mortar shelling that killed one civilian and injured five from one family in South Waziristan.
Pakistani forces gave an “immediate, effective and disproportionate response” and destroyed seven Afghan Taliban posts, the ministry said.
Islamabad accused the Kabul regime of acting at India’s behest and spreading misinformation.
The clash follows earlier cross-border violence in the same sector in February and late April.
