Taiwanese airlines airspace access restored by Pakistan
Islamabad has renewed overflight permits for China Airlines and EVA Air through March 2027 after a short halt from October 25, without publicly explaining the ban or its reversal.
Pakistan has restored overflight access for Taiwanese carriers China Airlines and EVA Air after a brief ban that began on October 25.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif linked the earlier restriction to Pakistan’s one-China policy, saying only mainland Chinese carriers were being allowed through.
The Civil Aviation Authority renewed both airlines’ permits the same day the ban became public, with validity through March 27, 2027.
Taipei condemned the move as politicising airspace and compromising flight safety; Islamabad has not publicly explained either decision.
During the closure, Europe-bound services were rerouted via Russian and Indian airspace, adding fuel use and flying time.
