Pakistan not in Yemen conflict, DG ISPR rules out campaigns
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said deeper engagement with Riyadh looked positive, while stressing that any troop moves would rest with political leaders and that Islamabad was not party to the Yemen fighting.
DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan-Saudi defence cooperation could grow as engagement deepens.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s defence, including Mecca and Medina.
Extra troops for Saudi Arabia would depend on the situation and decisions by both countries’ political leaders.
Pakistan is not part of the Yemen conflict, he said.
Domestic counterterrorism will rely on more intelligence-based operations, not wider campaigns.
