Pakistan says 4,700 killed by Afghan-origin terror in 3 years
At the UN, Islamabad’s delegate tied the Taliban to TTP and BLA networks, cited over 4,700 Pakistani deaths in three years, and restated the right to act in self-defence.
Pakistan told the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee it cannot “sit idle” in the face of cross-border terror from Afghanistan.
Delegate Muhammad Jawad Ajmal linked the Taliban to operations of the banned TTP, BLA and Majeed Brigade.
He said more than 4,700 innocent Pakistanis have been killed by terrorism from Afghanistan in the past three years.
Ajmal said Pakistan struck TTP-linked infrastructure on 16 March and will respond in self-defence under international law.
UN special rapporteur Richard Bennett said Taliban rights abuses against women and children have intensified, not eased.
