Malik says refineries absorb Rs15 rise after record profits
In a petroleum minister statement with Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik said refineries will absorb about Rs15 billion a month so petrol need not rise by Rs15 a litre.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said oil refineries will bear about Rs15 billion a month to shield petrol consumers.
The step is meant to stop a roughly Rs15-per-litre petrol rise after import premiums climbed during the Iran-US conflict.
On 30 October the federal cabinet capped key local-refinery pricing inputs at 7 March 2026 levels for 30 days.
Petrol was cut by Rs3.40 a litre to Rs374.51 and high-speed diesel by Rs7.76 to Rs395.20 until 3 November.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said fuel stocks were enough and ruled out shortages.
