PFA destroys 900kg lumpy skin disease meat in Lahore
Teams recovered the consignment from a Kot Lakhpat beef shop, seized the delivery vehicle and destroyed the stock on site after a vet declared it unfit.
The Punjab Food Authority destroyed 900kg of meat from animals infected with lumpy skin disease in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat area.
Food safety teams recovered the stock from a beef shop and seized the vehicle used to move it.
PFA Director General Mansoor Ahmed said the meat had a strong foul smell and had changed colour.
A veterinary specialist found the meat unfit for human consumption and said infected animals had been slaughtered for sale.
The full consignment was destroyed on the spot to stop it reaching consumers.
