Peshawar court frees 28 PTI activists on Rs100,000 bonds

A two-judge bench in Peshawar ordered sureties and a written pledge on public order, with the challenge to Oct 12 home department detention notices listed again for Oct 27.

A PHC bench of Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Babar Sattar allowed interim bail for 28 PTI workers detained under the MPO law.

Each must post two Rs100,000 sureties and give a written undertaking against anti-state or public-order breaches.

They are contesting home department detention notices dated Oct 12, 2026; the next listing is Oct 27.

Counsel said the orders under Section 3 of the 1960 MPO Ordinance lacked specific grounds; Swat and Abbottabad benches gave similar interim relief on Oct 20 and 21.

Separately, 122 PTI workers from Swabi have also petitioned the court against MPO detention.
