Balochistan’s fifth week-long drive of the year began on Monday, with over 8,880 teams focusing on Afghan border districts after more than 50 cases next door.
Balochistan launched its fifth seven-day anti-polio drive of the year on Monday from Quetta.
More than 2.2 million children under five are to be reached across 31 districts by over 8,880 teams.
Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman cited more than 50 polio cases in Afghanistan this year as a cross-border risk, especially for Chaman and Qila Abdullah.
The province has reported no polio cases for 24 months, and last month’s environmental samples tested negative.
Officials urged parents, teachers, religious scholars and community leaders to support vaccination.
