Senate told PPL HQ relocation aims to cut dual-office costs
Talal Chaudhry told the Senate the proposed Pakistan Petroleum Limited headquarters shift from Karachi seeks efficiency and lower costs, not provincial favour.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said the proposed PPL headquarters move from Karachi to Islamabad is an operational and administrative step.
He rejected claims in the Senate that the plan was driven by regional or provincial considerations.
The company’s board has repeatedly flagged the need to vacate the existing building because of its condition.
About 77% of PPL employees work at field sites and other offices and would not be affected; around 15% are based at headquarters.
He warned that keeping offices at two places would raise costs and place an unnecessary burden on the public.
