Punjab bans spy devices hidden in pens, glasses and watches
The Home Department said the ban covers everyday items fitted with concealed cameras, but the statement gave no start date, legal basis or penalties.
The Punjab Home Department said on Monday, 19 October, that the province will ban spy devices, including glasses, pens and watches with hidden cameras or recording equipment.
Strict legal action will follow the use, purchase and sale of such equipment and concealed electronic devices.
The move follows complaints of illegal surveillance, harassment and blackmail carried out through such devices.
The statement did not say when the Punjab ban on spy devices takes effect, under which law, or what penalties apply.
The Lahore High Court is hearing a petition against smart glasses filed by a citizen.
