Punjab to introduce Khushhal Dehat Act 2026 for villages

A committee in each village will oversee sewer, drain and paved-lane works, and the province will also get the Khushhal Dehat Act 2026.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif has cleared a trial scheme that turns 120 Punjab villages into model settlements.

The Khushhal Dehat Act 2026 is to be brought in across Punjab.

Every village committee has eight members, split evenly between public figures and government officials.

Sewer lines, drains and paved lanes are promised for every village in the pilot.

Funding figures and completion dates were not announced.
