Putin and Iran's Rezaei discuss Russian gas pipeline plan

Talks covered a planned gas pipeline from Russia to Iran, as Iran faces gas shortages after a war with the US and Israel that began in February.

Russian President Vladimir Putin received Iran's security chief, Mohsen Rezaei, in Moscow on Thursday.

The two discussed gas pipelines from Russia to Iran, which Rezaei said would help Iran meet its own gas shortages.

Iran has long had natural gas shortages, made worse by the war with the United States and Israel that began in February.

In early October, Putin said Russia was prepared to take part in mediation to end the war.
