Baanth-Thalian ring road opening waits on weigh stations
Officials say the Rs50.4 billion Baanth–Thalian route will open only after toll plazas, weighing stations and electronic systems are ready—a wait that may run a month or longer.
Opening to traffic is delayed another month while toll plazas and weighing stations are finished.
The project has cost Rs50.4 billion; the provincial government will set an inauguration date after remaining facilities are done.
Eight weighing stations are planned; toll booths are still under construction at Baanth and Thalian, and weighing-machine procurement is incomplete.
Weighing-station construction may take two to three weeks, then machines and about two more weeks for electronic toll and traffic systems.
Thalian interchange work is due to start after the road opens and is expected to finish by December.
