Rawalpindi safety audit covers 8,300 public, private schools

Tehsil teams began checking fire safety, building strength and security from Sunday; private schools seek more time before the October 20 deadline.

District teams are inspecting about 7,000 private and 1,300 public schools across Rawalpindi.

Checks cover structural safety, fire measures, emergency readiness and security, daily from 8am to 8pm.

Reports are due by October 20; assistant commissioners supervise in seven tehsils.

Private schools’ association backs the goal but has asked the deputy commissioner for more preparation time.
