Riyadh airport attack: missile intercepted near Terminal 4

The Saudi-led coalition said Sunday's Riyadh airport attack set Terminal 4 on fire, a day after a strike killed 12 people and wounded more than 300.

The Saudi-led coalition said an unidentified projectile hit Terminal 4 at King Khalid International Airport on Sunday and caused a fire.

Spokesman Turki al-Maliki said air defences intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile near the airport; ARY News reported an interception, without saying it was destroyed.

ARY News said the airport stayed closed after Saturday’s strike, which killed 12 people and wounded more than 300.

The Houthis warned airlines and travellers to avoid Saudi airports and airspace, excluding Mecca and Medina.

Riyadh Metro service to two of the three airport stations was suspended, to be reviewed daily.
