US offers productive role amid Pakistan-Taliban terror dispute
Speaking after the G20 foreign ministers meeting in Atlanta on 31 October, Marco Rubio said Washington has heard Islamabad’s concerns and would help only if it can play a useful part.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke on 31 October in Atlanta after the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
He said Pakistan fears terror attacks from Afghan territory and that the Taliban have not done enough to stop them.
Rubio said Washington does not want Pakistan targeted and would play a “productive role” if it can.
He noted the US does not have close ties with the Taliban and announced no new concrete step.
Mediation efforts by several countries have so far failed to settle the core dispute over militant groups.
