Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Leghari ordered a crackdown on arbitrary detection billing by power distribution companies (Discos).
All detection bills must be issued only through the central online portal of the Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC).
Manual detection billing by field staff and sub-divisional officers is prohibited and will be treated as serious misconduct.
Proposed limits: three billing cycles for ordinary consumers in unauthorised use, six months for registered consumers, and 12 months for unregistered consumers.
