Banks may now reach small enterprises and farmers through microfinance partners under federal risk cover, with per-borrower ceilings of up to Rs5 million.

The State Bank of Pakistan has launched a framework so banks can lend to small enterprises and small farmers through wholesale and agency setups.

Partner lenders may include microfinance banks, non-bank microfinance companies and non-bank finance companies.

Small-enterprise ceilings are Rs1 million via NBMFCs and Rs5 million via NBFCs and microfinance banks.

Agricultural ceilings are Rs500,000 via NBMFCs and Rs2 million via NBFCs and microfinance banks.

Loans fall under federal Risk Coverage Schemes and must stay identifiable through API-based reporting.
