Police propose Section 420 non-bailable to aid fraud victims
Lahore police have proposed making Section 420 non-bailable, a change they say would give fraud victims relief as complaints rise and courts question related FIRs.
Lahore police's senior command has proposed making Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code non-bailable.
The stated aim is to give fraud and cheating victims more relief after rising complaints.
The investigation wing has reportedly cancelled more than 200 Section 406 cases and issued new SOPs.
A senior lawyer said Section 420 is still bailable under the current law.
The proposal is not law yet, and no timeline for a change has been announced.
