Shahbaz Khokhar assumes CG role at Pakistan consulate Kandahar
The BPS-20 Foreign Service officer, once deputy head of mission in Kabul, takes over a post left vacant for months after Kabul delayed agrément, with bilateral trade still suspended.
Shahbaz Hussain Khokhar has formally taken charge as Pakistan’s consul general in Kandahar.
The post stayed vacant for many months because Kabul delayed acceptance of his agrément.
Pakistan–Afghanistan trade is currently suspended; restoring commerce is expected to be a priority once it reopens.
A trade and commercial officer is already based at the Pakistani consulate in Kandahar.
Khokhar, a BPS-20 Foreign Service officer, was previously Director General Europe and served as DCM in Kabul from 2016 to 2019.
