Zardari approves Tamgha-e-Shujaat for Karachi firefighter
President Asif Ali Zardari has cleared the Medal of Bravery for the Karachi firefighter who died under debris while battling the Gul Plaza blaze on M.A. Jinnah Road.
President Asif Ali Zardari has approved Tamgha-e-Shujaat (Medal of Bravery) for Shaheed Furqan.
Furqan, a Karachi firefighter, died after falling into wreckage while fighting the Gul Plaza fire.
The blaze on M.A. Jinnah Road began on the night of 17 January 2026 and lasted about 36 hours.
Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab had pressed for national recognition of Furqan’s sacrifice.
Furqan had married about one and a half years earlier and left behind a child.
