Shehbaz, Nawaz defend KP governor rule over security
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif said security fears and failed talks left the Centre with little choice but to impose emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the Centre was “compelled” to impose emergency and governor’s rule in KP over security concerns.
The measures took effect on Oct 11 and were endorsed by parliament this week amid opposition protests.
PML-N President Nawaz Sharif backed the step from London and said it should have come earlier as law and order worsened.
Shehbaz said talks with PTI, including a long Oct 3 session, failed to produce a breakthrough before the intervention.
Nawaz accused PTI of using provincial resources for confrontation with the federation.
