KP governor's rule defended as talks collapsed on Oct 3
Shehbaz Sharif told MQM-P and other allies the Centre imposed governor's rule in KP, and an emergency in 12 districts, after trying to avoid that step. He told PML-N the Oct 3 talks had collapsed.
Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday briefed MQM-P, PML-Q, BAP, IPP and PML-Zia and said the Centre had tried to avoid governor's rule in KP.
On Sunday the Centre imposed governor's rule in KP and an emergency in 12 districts, citing the PTI government's disengagement from counterterrorism.
He said KP had received more than Rs800 billion under the National Finance Commission for that fight, without strengthening counter-terror policing or Safe City projects.
He tied the decision to the collapse of Oct 3 talks and said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi's role now stands non-functional.
The Prime Minister's Office said the allies pledged support for the federal move.
