In Islamabad, the prime minister told PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaders that PPP–PML-N talks lasted 48 hours but a settled draft never won approval before Governor's Rule and an emergency were imposed.

Shehbaz Sharif said timely KP Governor's Rule and an emergency were needed, or the province could have faced more damage.

He said a PPP and PML-N committee negotiated for 48 hours, then waited in vain for approval of an agreed draft.

He claimed KP has received Rs800 billion under the NFC Award, including a 1% extra share agreed in 2010, yet asked how much went to Safe City and counter-terror capacity.

He said 5,000 vacant police posts in the province were not filled and that resources should have modernised and trained the police.

He alleged terrorists were brought back from Afghanistan and settled in 2019 and 2020, which he said caused heavy national harm.
