The Sindh government has proposed a $30 million biogas development project, which is still at the proposal stage.
Five centralised facilities would be built in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad.
Daily targets are 120,000 cubic metres of biogas, 63,000 cubic metres of biomethane and 45 tonnes of organic fertilizer.
Official estimates put avoided emissions at about 250,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent a year.
The Sindh Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Department would lead, with district administrations and two Sindh departments as partners.
