Punjab Textile Mills Seek 25 to 50 MW of Cheap Power

Punjab's textile mills association says members may buy power under an upcoming auction, and that demand could rise above 50 MW depending on tariffs and supply terms.

APTMA said its members are interested in buying 25 to 50 MW of electricity from the Punjab government, in a letter dated October 14.

The association said high industrial electricity tariffs have weakened Punjab's textile sector and contributed to factory closures.

The Punjab government is considering taking part as a power generator in the auction of the first 400 MW under the CTBCM framework.

Any investment or purchase decision rests with individual companies after their own assessments.
