A three-year-old boy in Karachi tested positive for mpox on Friday and is under treatment at SIDH&RC.

Sindh has recorded 115 mpox cases and 12 deaths this year; SIDH&RC has treated 31 cases and now has seven patients.

Doctors link the boy’s infection to circumcision at Ibne Hassan Hospital in Malir, sealed over infection-control gaps.

An infant with mpox died early this week after 10 days of treatment; the infant’s mother and aunt are among patients still in care.

The Sindh Health Care Commission opened the sealed hospital on Friday for disinfection, then sealed it again pending sampling and legal checks.
