WCCI Mardan seeks revival of closed TMA handicraft centres
About 23 TMA handicraft centres closed in Mardan have cut off sewing and embroidery work that many local women used for self-employment, prompting calls for revival.
Around 23 Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) handicraft centres have been shut across Mardan district.
Women who used the centres for sewing, embroidery and other crafts have lost a main source of self-employment.
WCCI Mardan president Ayesha Durrani pressed Municipal Committee officials to reopen the centres.
TMA authorities reportedly assured her that steps would be taken to revive the facilities.
Civic and business voices have asked the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and municipal officials to investigate and restore operations.
