Leghari: theft-linked load shedding to hit transformers in 2027
Energy Minister Awais Leghari said from June 2027, outages tied to electricity theft will hit individual transformers instead of whole feeders, while night cuts stay at two hours.
Federal Energy Minister Awais Leghari said load shedding linked to electricity theft will move from whole feeders to individual transformers from June 2027.
He said the aim is to target theft-hit areas more tightly and ease the burden on other consumers.
Nighttime load shedding is currently limited to two hours, which he said has shielded users from an extra Rs6 per unit.
He spoke in Dera Ghazi Khan after reviewing the Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari International Airport expansion.
He did not spell out how the transformer-level system will be rolled out or measured.
