On a Tuesday television call-in, the US president cast the eight-month Iran fight—tied to 23 American deaths—as limited strikes rather than a full-scale war.
President Donald Trump called the Iran conflict a "minor attack" and said it was "not really war."
The fight has lasted more than eight months and left 23 American service members dead.
He said US forces hit an Iranian anti-aircraft facility the previous night.
He claimed Iran’s navy and aircraft were destroyed and its nuclear sites remain under watch.
He said the United States holds "total control" of the Strait of Hormuz.
