Ankara seeks vote on mutual defense pact with Pakistan, KSA
Turkey’s parliament is due to approve the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, adding a mutual defence duty while troop deployment would still need a separate mandate.
Turkey’s parliament is set to ratify the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The pact includes a collective defence clause modelled on NATO’s Article 5.
Ratification creates a mutual defence obligation but does not by itself send Turkish troops to Saudi Arabia.
Officials have said Turkish support was expected mainly as equipment, intelligence sharing and weapons systems.
A ruling-party lawmaker said Ankara may also seek a separate mandate to deploy personnel if requested.
