Universities must adopt AI responsibly, experts urge
At an Allama Iqbal Open University roundtable during SDPI’s SDG conference, vice chancellors said AI can lift teaching and research if ethics and clear campus policies come first.
Vice chancellors and education experts met in Islamabad at an AIOU roundtable during SDPI’s 29th SDG Conference.
They said universities should use AI in teaching, research and administration to raise standards and learning.
Speakers insisted ethics, transparency, accountability and academic honesty must guide any AI use.
AI should aid teachers and students, not replace human thinking, creativity or intellectual effort.
AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said AI already supports distance education but must be used responsibly.
