Used car imports Pakistan: 50% duty limits price cuts
From 30 October 2026 commercial importers may bring in vehicles older than five years, but dealers say a 50% regulatory duty means used car prices in Pakistan are unlikely to fall quickly.
The Ministry of Commerce says the five-year age limit on commercial used-car imports ended on 30 October 2026.
Imports remain subject to import-policy rules plus environmental and safety standards.
Dealers urge importers to stick to cars about ten years old or newer, with pre- and post-arrival inspections.
Commercial imports carry 50% regulatory duty, versus about 20% under the gift scheme, with a planned 10% cut each year.
Industry voices say a large immediate price drop is unlikely, though buyers may get more car for the money than a new local 660cc.
