Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said a new wheat price will be announced after consultations with the provinces.
He chaired the first National Agriculture and Food Security Council meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday and said the rate should be set before sowing.
Sharif said Pakistan has enough wheat for domestic needs and that hoarders will receive no concession.
On Sunday in Multan, Pakistan Kissan Ittehad president Khalid Mehmood Khokhar urged an immediate support price so farmers can plan their crops.
Khokhar said sugarcane cultivation in Punjab rose 16 percent to 2.454 million acres while wheat rates stayed uncertain.
