World Bank loan plan: Pakistan targets $1.5bn via guarantees
A World Bank loan for Pakistan is being explored, and the Finance Division said the target is subject to the guarantee limit and deal structure, with no interest rate yet announced.
The Finance Division said Pakistan is exploring about $1.5 billion in financing backed by World Bank Group guarantees.
The plan would combine a World Bank policy-based guarantee with MIGA coverage to seek competitive rates.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb favoured using an existing Development Policy Operation to avoid delays.
No interest rate, signing date or confirmed final amount has been announced.
Follow-up will be coordinated through the Debt Management Office and the State Bank of Pakistan.
