Two policemen martyred in Dag Tamanzai Mohmand shooting

Unidentified gunmen fired on officers heading to polio security duty in Dag Tamanzai; one colleague was wounded and police say a search is under way.

Two policemen were martyred and one injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire in Mohmand district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Police said the officers were heading to security duty for a polio vaccination campaign in the Dag Tamanzai area.

A search operation has been launched to arrest those responsible.

The attack came during a subnational polio drive (2–8 November) meant to reach about 24 million children in 97 districts.

Pakistan has reported eight wild poliovirus type 1 cases so far this year, including six in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
