Karachi Port berths MV Gokova M with 51,000 tonnes wheat
Karachi Port Trust said MV Gokova M berthed on 28 October; MV Great Rainbow, with about 59,132 tonnes, is expected on 3 November, taking the two cargos past 110,000 tonnes.
Around 51,000 metric tonnes of imported wheat arrived at Karachi Port on 28 October aboard MV Gokova M, KPT said.
The ship was allotted Berths 16 and 17 and docked at 12:25 pm; cargo is being handled at KGTML.
MV Great Rainbow, with about 59,132 tonnes of wheat, is expected on 3 November; the two ships exceed 110,000 tonnes combined.
Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said strategic wheat reserves of up to six million tonnes would be kept and there would be no shortage this year.
He said up to 550,000 metric tonnes could be imported on provincial demand and called recent wheat price rises artificial.
