Afghan GDI coercing false video confessions blaming Pakistan
Sources in Islamabad say the Taliban’s intelligence arm is staging forced statements that allege Pakistan trained militants to attack the Afghan regime.
Sources say Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Intelligence is forcing detained Afghans to record false video confessions.
The coerced claims allegedly link detainees to ISKP or anti-Taliban groups and say they trained in Pakistan.
The interim Afghan administration is said to want to deflect pressure over terrorist sanctuaries inside Afghanistan.
Fabricated confessions are reportedly meant for Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran, and for social media.
Senior Taliban officials have reportedly been told to cite the statements in media and international briefings.
