Sources allege staged confessions
Islamabad-based sources said on 28 October that Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI)—the Taliban regime’s spy agency—has run a coordinated disinformation drive against Pakistan. According to those sources, Afghan intelligence has been recording staged video statements from detained Afghan nationals and forcing them, under duress, to make false admissions.
The coerced scripts, the sources said, cast the detainees as members of the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP)—the IS branch active in the Afghanistan–Pakistan region—or of anti-Taliban resistance groups. In those forced accounts, the individuals are made to claim they received combat training at covert bases inside Pakistan so they could strike the Taliban regime.
Why Kabul is said to be pushing the narrative
Sources described the campaign as a deliberate bid by the interim Afghan administration to shift international attention away from its own record. They said Kabul faces growing pressure over its failure to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil, and that blaming Pakistan is meant to ease that scrutiny.
Analysts cited by the same account argue the messaging is tuned to regional fears—especially Russia’s concern about ISKP. By casting Pakistan as the source of the threat, the Kabul regime is said to be trying to dodge accountability for counter-terrorism pledges it has not met, whether through inability or unwillingness.
Planned outreach to neighbours and media
Beyond the recordings themselves, sources said the Taliban intend to take the fabricated confessions to regional capitals. Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran were named as audiences Kabul hopes to convince, in a move that could cloud Pakistan’s ties across Central Asia if the material is treated as credible.
The same sources said the staged clips are also meant for wide circulation on social media. Senior Taliban officials have reportedly been briefed to repeat the coerced claims in upcoming media appearances and international briefings, amplifying a single engineered storyline across diplomatic and public channels.
Pakistan has long argued that violence affecting the region is tied to groups based in Afghanistan; the allegations outlined here reverse that charge and rest, according to the sources, on forced testimony rather than verified evidence. No independent confirmation of the claimed videos or of any formal delivery to neighbouring states was provided in the material available.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Afghan Taliban ki intelligence agency Pakistani khilaf jhooti video confessions banwa rahi hai, sources ka kehna hai. Band Afghan logon se zabardasti kehwaya ja raha hai ke unhon ne Pakistan mein training li. Ye qadam Kabul par international pressure kam karne aur Pakistan ke khilaf neighbours ko bharkane ke liye bataya gaya hai. Aam logon ke liye seedha matlab yeh hai ke border security aur diplomacy ki debate aur tez ho sakti hai.
