11% Customs Duty on 13 Imported Auto Parts Made Locally
Auto parts duty in Pakistan now reaches 13 more imported components, with an extra 11% levy meant to favour local makers; price effects remain unclear.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved an extra 11% customs duty on 13 imported automobile parts and components that are now made locally.
Newly covered items reportedly include heavy commercial vehicle tyres, number plates, reflectors, footrests, wheel assemblies and windscreens.
The decision widens SRO 693(I)/2006, which already covers more than 1,200 Pakistan Customs Tariff codes.
The Revenue Division said duty rates vary with how far each part is localised.
The approval does not necessarily raise vehicle prices immediately, and the sources do not give an effective date.
