Shehbaz cabinet clears new notes, replaces Rs10 with coin
The federal cabinet has approved a new Pakistani currency notes design after a Finance Ministry briefing, adding stronger anti-fake features and a plan to swap the Rs10 note for a coin.
The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved designs for new currency notes.
The decision followed a recommendation from the Ministry of Finance and a detailed cabinet briefing.
The cabinet also decided to replace the Rs10 note with a Rs10 coin.
Design proposals came from artists and designers across Pakistan; a prime minister–formed cabinet committee consulted stakeholders.
The new notes are to use advanced security features and modern materials meant to last longer.
