China Pakistan Economic Corridor green channel at Sost
Islamabad and Beijing will prioritise customs for farm goods at Sost-Khunjerab, sharing risk data to clear perishables faster on the high-altitude route.
Pakistan and China have agreed on a green channel at the Sost-Khunjerab border for agricultural and allied products.
Customs will use priority processing, risk-based checks and shared risk alerts to clear perishables faster.
Last year Pakistan Customs took a record Rs15bn on imports via Khunjerab, while exports to China and Central Asia on the route were Rs2.8bn.
Beijing’s reported exports to Pakistan exceed Pakistan’s recorded Chinese imports by about $5bn, pointing to misdeclaration risks.
The Khunjerab Pass is usually open from April to November and closes in winter snow, limiting year-round trade.
