Citizen dies in police custody; FIR against Rawalpindi ASI
Akmal Khan was declared dead at Taxila’s tehsil hospital after an alleged beating at Gangu check post; his brother has named ASI Kashif and two constables in a murder FIR.
Akmal Ali Khan was allegedly beaten at Gangu check post in Taxila’s area and later declared dead at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila.
Younger brother Zahid Khan lodged an FIR under Sections 302/34 naming Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kashif and constables Sohail and Qadeer.
The complainant says the officers stopped Akmal while he was going to fill CNG, then assaulted him inside a check-post room.
Zahid also demanded return of vehicle papers he says police took, and sought justice for the killing.
Police authorities said a case has been registered against the named officers and an investigation has begun.
