Dasu hydropower project line draws World Bank panel review
Fifteen residents from two Punjab villages say a World Bank-backed 765kV line cut land values and raised safety risks; an independent panel will assess their case from 2 to 10 November 2026.
The World Bank Inspection Panel will visit Pakistan from 2–10 November 2026 to assess complaints linked to the Dasu hydropower project’s 765kV transmission line.
Fifteen people from two villages in Punjab’s Tanda area allege inadequate compensation, roughly 80% land devaluation and safety risks near homes and farms.
The complaint, filed on 24 July 2026, covers World Bank additional financing of about USD 700 million for the transmission works.
The visit is an eligibility assessment only; a full investigation has not been approved.
Panel chair Ibrahim James Pam will lead meetings with energy and economic affairs officials, the National Grid Company and other stakeholders.
