Six-year-old Gulalai identified weeks after Quaidabad find

Police matched DNA weeks after the 19 August Quaidabad drain find; medical findings showed no assault evidence and a suspect is in custody.

A body recovered from a Quaidabad drain near Mehran Highway on 19 August has been identified through DNA as six-year-old Gulalai.

She went missing on 13 August from outside her home in Majid Colony; a case was registered at Quaidabad police station on 14 August.

Her father, Abdul Aziz, said his wife’s DNA was taken on 27 August and police later told him the samples matched.

Medical findings showed no evidence of sexual assault; police have detained one suspect and say the probe continues.

Investigators cite a lack of CCTV in the area and suspect the accused may live locally.
