FBR officer suspended over unauthorised press statement

An FBR officer suspended on Monday is among four IRS officers facing action over an unauthorised press statement and a call to halt official work.

The FBR suspended two IRS officers on Monday, one in BS-20 and one in BS-19.

Two more IRS officers, both in BS-20, were sent back to FBR headquarters for further investigation.

The action followed an unauthorised press statement and a call to halt official work.

The FBR said the conduct prima facie breaches Rules 23 and 26 of the Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules, 2026, and amounts to misconduct under Rule 34.

Disciplinary proceedings will follow under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.
