Haroon Akhtar Khan forms four groups to modernize marble industry
A steering committee under the National Marble and Natural Stone Policy 2026–2030 will guide the post-modernization of marble industry in Pakistan, aimed at less waste and more exports.
Haroon Akhtar Khan, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production, formed four technical groups under a steering committee.
The groups will recommend steps on finishing standards, technology upgradation, value addition and export promotion.
The work is linked to the National Marble and Natural Stone Policy 2026–2030.
Private-sector representatives said conventional blasting in quarrying wastes a substantial amount of valuable marble.
No timeline for the groups' recommendations was given in the announcement.
