Ex-envoy Farukh Amil honoured in Japan's 2026 decorations

Tokyo’s autumn 2026 honours list recognises the ex-ambassador’s cultural outreach, campus talks and solidarity after Japan’s 2011 disaster.

Japan’s government named Farukh Akhter Amil in its 2026 autumn decorations list on Monday.

He receives the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for work that deepened Pakistan–Japan ties.

He was Pakistan’s ambassador in Tokyo from 2013 to 2017.

His record includes a Fukushima visit early in his posting, campus lectures, and a 2025 photo show in Pakistan.
