KP governor's rule: Centre sets up committee to oversee province
The council will oversee key provincial departments, while a new secretariat covers 12 districts facing serious security challenges, and opposition parties and lawyers have condemned the move.
The government announced an 11-member advisory council headed by Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday, after emergency and governor's rule were imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The council will oversee finance, education, energy, health, law and other departments, while a new secretariat handles 12 districts facing security challenges.
On Monday, PM Shehbaz Sharif formed a committee under Ishaq Dar to oversee the Centre's handling of affairs in the province.
The committee is expected to reach 11 members once PPP, BAP and IPP representatives join; this has not yet been confirmed.
Opposition parties, lawyers and rights groups have condemned the move over the removal of the PTI-led provincial government.
